The Best DIY Hand Sanitizer with Thistle Farms Essential Oils (& a New Product!)

Commercial hand sanitizer has been hard to find in recent days, so we've been working hard to develop the very best hand sanitizer on the market. We are still a few weeks from an official launch of Thistle Farms Hand Sanitizer, so we've also developed a simple DIY recipe that you can use in the meantime.

By this time in our collective Covid 19 experience, we all know that using hand sanitizer is one of the most effective ways to protect ourselves from the coronavirus and other illnesses, but just like hand washing with a good bar or liquid soap, there are rules to follow in order to get the job done properly.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hand sanitizers containing at least 60% alcohol can be used to get rid of germs in situations where soap and water aren’t available. 20 full seconds of hand washing/sanitizing is our first defense against the spread of any unwanted germ. Remembering to not touch our faces with unclean hands is paramount as we strive to keep ourselves healthy.

This one hits all of the right notes: hand sanitization with the proper levels of germ killing power and moisture to protect against dryness. With Immunity Essential Oil, our powerfully effective essential oil blend, for added antimicrobial protection and pleasant unisex herbal scent.

Here's what you'll need:

1 1/4 cups Isopropyl alcohol

1/2 cup aloe vera gel (last years's leftover sunburn gel is great!)

40 drops Thistle Farms Immunity Essential Oil

Small spray bottle

Clean and sanitize bottle (reusing a body spray, room spray or hair product bottle is a great idea!) Pour ingredients into bottle, using a funnel if needed. Shake well before using, spray over both hands at close range to prevent overspray loss, rub in throughly.
