Micellar Water Recipe with Thistle Farms Lavender Essential Oil

Are you interested in micellar water, but not really sure what it is? You’re not alone, skincare lover!

In simple terms, micelles are tiny droplets of cleansing oil molecules suspended in water. These micelles are attracted to dirt, oil, and other impurities that find their way to our skin. Micellar water draws out impurities without drying the delicate outer layer of the skin. It’s basically all you need to cleanse, tone, and moisturize without the need for rinsing afterward, but you can give a quick splash of water and pat dry if you like.

Micellar water even removes mascara, making it a true skincare go-getter! Great for travel, pop this and a Thistle Farms Jet Set in your travel bag and you're good to go. And seriously, who among us isn't dreaming of their first post-Covid 19 trip right now?

We’ve been busy in the Thistle Farms kitchen mixing up various micellar waters, and this one hits all of the high notes of readily available ingredients to performance where it counts the most - on our skin. This recipe makes a six ounce bottle of micellar water, with Thistle Farms Lavender Essential Oil which is a time-honored skincare staple, suitable for all skin types (allergies notwithstanding.)

Even if you have oily or acne prone skin, you'll benefit from this soothing barrier of light oil to protect, nourish, and soften delicate skin. If you find that you want an extra level of clean, simply use your favorite cleanser and follow up with your micellar water for a fresh, smooth finish.

All of these ingredients are conveniently available at your grocery store’s health food or vitamin section, or at your favorite natural products store.

Here’s what you’ll need:

*1/2 cup rose water

*1/4 cup witch hazel

*2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin

*5-6 drops Thistle Farms 100% pure Lavender Essential Oil

*1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon jojoba or argan oil, depending upon skin type

Mix together in a clean and sanitized container. Since this recipe is made without preservatives, we suggest keeping in a cool, dark  place with lid tightly closed. Shake before use, apply with a cotton pad, enjoy the glow of simple ingredients and clean, clear skin.
