Letter from Our Founder, Rev. Becca Stevens

'Tis the season for Thistle Farms! Between our loyal customers purchasing and gifting our products and books, and end of year donations, this month alone keeps our doors open through the summer season. The miracle of the holidays for me is how people demonstrate their love for justice, for each other, and for the women in the Thistle Farms community.  

Over and over, we watch women who have never really celebrated the season or maybe in just a distant foggy memory, decorate lavishly, write cards for each other, and plan several gatherings.  I remember once a resident and employee of Thistle Farms talking about spending years in prisons for the holidays. She said there was nothing to do, and it was pretty much grey. Now she is rushing around buying gifts and producing candles and enjoying the bright lights and company of friends and family. “I am so grateful to be busy with the season,” she said, "I love the Christmas rush".
