Meet the Makers: TerraKlay

Across the globe, TerraKlay is partnering with artisan collectives to preserve traditional crafts, create dignified employment, and build sustainable futures. What began in Northern India's Himalayan belt with more than 100 women artisans has grown into a broader mission to support makers around the world.

In 2023, TerraKlay welcomed new artisan groups under the TerraKlay name with the commitment to preserve livelihoods and honor the legacy of their craft. Today, TerraKlay works not only with women weavers in India, but also with ceramic artists in Tunisia and glass and woodworkers in Guatemala.

Strengthening Communities Through Craft

Whether in India, Tunisia, or Guatemala, TerraKlay partners with skilled artisans to produce handcrafted goods using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each partnership centers on people-first development, providing reliable wages, dignified employment, and strong community.

Every TerraKlay product has a story. Listen closely, and it will tell you of the hands that shaped it—with soul, intention, and love.

TerraKlay at Thistle Farms

This spring, TerraKlay offers a collection of beautifully made, meaningful pieces: TerraKlay works with quality materials and conscious processes that preserve our planet and craftsmanship culture. They use premium quality cotton, fine wool, upcycled banana fibers and fabrics colored with natural plant dyes, making each ingredient completely natural and safe. Products are handmade with love and care that do not harm the environment leaving you feeling empowered by your purchase.

What Is Shared Trade?

Thistle Farms launched the Shared Trade program in 2013 to partner with social enterprises that share our values: women’s freedom, fair work, and sustainable business. Today, Shared Trade includes more than 20 partners around the world, each committed to creating safe, supportive jobs for women.

Through Shared Trade, we offer more than just market access. We provide funding opportunities, community support, and a global network where partners share resources and ideas to grow together.

Why It Matters

When you shop from our Shared Trade partners, you’re investing in women’s economic freedom. You're helping artisans build strong businesses, support their families, and contribute to their communities.

As Thistle Farms continues to grow its global partnerships, the message is clear: love knows no borders, and healing can begin anywhere. Through Shared Trade, Thistle Farms is lighting the way for survivors across the globe, creating spaces where women feel seen, heard, and supported. No matter where you are, love heals.
