Wrap yourself in artistry with the Embroidered Medallion Shawl. Handcrafted in Nepal, this shawl features a striking red and black medallion design that blends timeless elegance with modern flair. Its lightweight yet warm feel makes it a versatile piece for daily wear or special occasions, offering both comfort and sophistication.

Each shawl is embroidered entirely by hand by women artisans of Local Women’s Handicrafts (LWH), a Shared Trade partner. Artisans train for four to five years to master this intricate skill, making every shawl a true work of art. From the hand-dyed wool and threads to the meticulous embroidery, each shawl is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the creativity and resilience of the women who craft them. Beyond beauty, these shawls are non-toxic, chemical-free, and fully compostable at the end of their life, making them a sustainable choice for conscious consumers.

Local Women's Handicrafts is on mission to lift up marginalized and exploited women; to give them opportunity, skills, and a sense of dignity; and to spread our model of empowerment across the world.

LWH was started by Nasreen Sheikh as a small shop in Kathmandu, Nepal. At only the age of 16, Nasreen had already survived two years as a child laborer in a sweatshop. She opened LWH to take control of her own destiny and provide herself with hope she had never had.

At the shop, Nasreen began to train local women to make handcrafted textiles they could sell at her shop. As she saw the women gain confidence and light return to their eyes, she realized she had the opportunity to spread this work across the world and empower disadvantaged women everywhere.
