Beyond Survival: Helping Survivors Build Healthy Relationships After Trafficking

Inspired by The Freedom Code, this workshop breaks down how trafficking impacts trust, boundaries, communication, and attachment; and what it really takes to rebuild those foundations. Participants will learn practical, trauma-informed strategies to help survivors create relationships that feel safe and empowering, from family connections to workplace dynamics to intimate partnerships. Expect real conversation, real tools, and a deeply survivor-centered approach to healing.

From Emergency Shelter to Empowerment Housing

This workshop explores how Thistle Farms has developed a continuum of housing that moves women from crisis stabilization to long-term healing and stability. Participants will learn about the organization’s low-barrier Safe House model, two-year residential recovery program, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing approach designed specifically for women survivors of trafficking, addiction, and exploitation. Through a trauma-informed and housing-first lens, this session will highlight strategies for creating safety, restoring agency, building supportive community, and promoting long-term stability beyond emergency shelter. Attendees will gain practical insight into survivor-centered housing models, cross-sector partnerships, and lessons learned in sustaining pathways toward healing, recovery, and independence.

As a survivor-first social enterprise with a for-profit structure, Strings for Hope has built a model rooted in dignified work, sustainable revenue, and community partnership.

The session will highlight strategies for integrating job readiness, supportive services, and meaningful work opportunities that meet individuals where they are.
