Purchasing Manager

Implement, oversee and supervise all activities related to sourcing of equipment, goods, related services and managing vendors within Thistle Farms. You will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spending, source and negotiate more competitive pricing, and find more profitable suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • - Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies for Body & Home
  • - Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • - Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • - Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • - Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • - Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • - Maintain up to date costs of raw goods and communicate significant cost changes with Director of Systems, Director of Finance, and Sr Director of Body & Home
  • - Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • - Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • - Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • - Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • - Work with each stakeholders to understand processes within that department, including but not limited to: Forecasting, Quality Assurance, Inventory
  • - Reconcile raw material quality issues with vendors
    • - Be the first point of contact with vendor when issue arises and negotiate credit, returns, and disposal when applicable
  • - Manage credit card reconciliation for all operations’ credit cards
  • - Responsible for keeping up to date list of accruals & prepaid materials for end of month accounting report
  • - Vet new vendors to ensure their mission and standards are aligned with Thistle Farms standards and needs 
  • - Support Director of Research & Development in sourcing and bringing in samples of new packaging, raw materials, and negotiate rates, turnaround times, and accounting set up with any new vendors
  • - Work closely with Inventory Control Manager and Systems Director to support the goals of the department
  • - Projects outside this scope as assigned, include, but are not limited to: Order office supplies, manage recurring deliveries on Amazon, as requested by colleagues

Requirements  

  • - Minimum of 2+ years experience in Manufacturing, Operations, or other related disciplines
  • - Prior experience in Team Management Role
  • - Technology savvy
    • - Robust understanding of excel
      • - Daily use of pivot tables, vlookups, and functions is required
    • - Understanding or ability to quickly learn inventory management systems, Topshelf
    • - Proficiency in GSuite
  • - Strong written and verbal communication, including via telephone and via email
  • Self-directed: strong organizational and time management skills; adapts to ever evolving priorities and assignments while executing in a timely manner

  • Good judgement, strong critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Collaborative team player

  • - Be able to bend, stand, pick up and reach arms above head
  • - Be able to stand for at least 3 hours at a time

  • - Be able to lift 15 lbs. regularly
  • - Be able to lift 40 lbs. occasionally
